Any thoughts or data on impact of umpires in finals? Theoretically just as the best teams are in the finals the best umpires should be officiating which should lead to better decision making. Supporters from losing teams may not agree wih that premise but is there a way of analysin the data to see how umpire decisions affect finals versus Home and Away. Seems they are calling for more ball ups but is there anything else?
Great question, Kieran! Wish I knew. It would certainly fit, though: more stoppages and more tackles certainly implies more repeat stoppages. Probably another thing that someone cleverer than me could work out!
Actually, reading the data, it appears that Nicks has actually been trying to play in a finals footy style all year. He has been criticised for not handling enough like all the ‘modern’ teams do.
Maybe his ‘rubbish’ game plan has been to learn to play finals football? But he still seems to have no plan B if a team gets on top.

So as a Crows fan, should I be more or less confident?

Oh, never confident, always filled with dread and foreboding.
